I took this year off from social media to recover from the heaviest of life’s blows and I’m glad I did because I learned and ultimately determined:
1. We’re all going to die anyway so I really don’t have time ⏰ for my depression.
2. I’m 👩‍❤️‍👨 married to the strongest man on the planet and you can fall deeper in love with every year that passes.
3. People will only keep taking as much as you allow them to (at work, in relationships, etc). If you want balance and to 🛑 stop people pleasing, you have to drive that decision!
4. Thoughts become things! Careful what you think. 💭
5. Getting older 👵🏽 is actually glorious.
6. At the root of all good is ❤️ love. So don’t worry about the rest.
7. Eat the fucking steak 🥩!

As odd as it sounds to say, and even 14 years later, I still haven’t fully accepted my role as a parent and all the responsibilities that I have on my plate everyday. Everyone thinks I have it so together but most days I’m still thinking “WTF IS GOING ON” 😩 with my 2 threads of sanity left.

I was already graduating into a small bubble before covid hit; I love my little bubble. I am grateful for all that surrounds me, for it is so wholesome and true. These people build me up, and make me see a bigger purpose within myself that I still don’t fully understand yet. ❤️✨ if you stuck around me this year through my growth, you’re a REAL one ✊🏽.

Sad I’m not getting on a plane to NY tomorrow (thanks to covid 😩🦠); let’s agree to give a great big FOH to covid next year because I just can’t! 🙏🏽 love y’all!

And remember; keeping it TF together everyday is a MAJOR accomplishment. Best and most ABUNDANT Christmas Ever! I have the truest love a girl can have 😍.

It’s plagued me for years to not feel totally aligned to my life’s purpose and I’ve been searching ever since. The Japanese have a concept called “IKIGAI” - “reason for being” which states in order to figure out your life’s purpose you must determine:

1. What you’re good at!
.
2. What you enjoy doing!
.
3. What the world needs!
.
4. What you can get paid for!
.
.
I’m getting closer…until then I don’t speak to y’all much, but I think of you all the time and the ways in which I’ll help you and this world. TBD 🤞🏽🤗❤️

So for now thanks for watching me just rest, living in paradise and enjoying my beautiful married life! 😘

If you hear both our individual stories, and what we experienced to arrive at the people we are today, and to be prepared to be the partners we are for one another, it sounds like two battle ready soldiers that trenched through war. We had to go through so much and a lot of rough times, we had to do some tremendous work in the areas of personal development and growth, we had to embark on a serious spiritual journey of deep faith.

But when our paths finally crossed, it all started to make sense, everything was aligned, all we ever wanted and asked for came true, and the power of manifestation showed it’s strength. And because of this our foundation is divine, is beyond surface level things and can never be broken.

This is my life now.

There’s very little, if any, partying or social gatherings. There’s no chaos or dysfunction. It’s quiet. It’s peaceful. There is a lot of classical music and sounds of nature.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes it’s a bit boring, and definitely jarring for the both of us whose past lives looked so much different. We chose to walk this path together with a strong foundation as we seek enlightenment and to be high spiritual attainers. It’s a courageous step - out of our comfort zone, out of a cycle of insanity that many don’t realize they’re stuck in.

But it’s a good life…..incredibly healthy and free, safe and calm, full of love and joy; righteous. My life is so beautiful! ✨

What you’re hearing is a voicenote I received on my drive to work (things I hear so often); & what you’re watching is a quick snap shot of the happiest and healthiest relationship I’ve ever been in.
.
.
I know that in 2021 people are getting sick and tired of seeing people boast, fake or brag on social media. I promise you that’s not what this post is about. If you miss the message then 🤷🏽‍♀️. This is for the MANY feeling discouraged and losing hope in relationships, especially after experiencing any abuse, trauma or just constant disappointment.
.

Some of y’all watched me for years as I went through the grueling trial and error of dating, did the raw and painful work of healing and marveled in my discovery of self-love. It wasn’t in vain. All these things were critical to allow me to get to THIS point; to attract and manifest such a loving, patient and wonderful partner. Someone who attends therapy sessions with me to learn about and love me through my trauma and work through his own.

Yes, we fight and have tense moments all the time (of course). But even our conflict is so healthy and finally I am feeling like I’m on a “TEAM”. In the past, no one could tell me that I wasn’t going to have this love one day. I was certain of it and kept telling people that. And I was willing to do whatever uncomfortable work I had to do to get here.

Even in 2021 these partnerships are possible and I ESPECIALLY want those who have been through any kind of abuse to hear that loud and clear.

One of the greatest lessons I was taught this week (and probably the best one in a long time) is that our 😇 healing journey may not always result in reversing our trauma but accepting that we may never get over it. 🎯
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For so long I’ve been chasing the day that I can say I am completely ⛑ “cured”. We are so stuck on and determined to reach a point where our experiences no longer affect us but maybe that’s not supposed to happen. Maybe the turning point is gaining control of how it impacts our lives.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1. Have we identified our trauma / abuse / dysfunction/ turmoil? YES ✅
.
2. Are we communicating how the experience made us feel and finding channels to process the emotions? YES ✅
.
3. Have we identified our triggers and developed coping mechanisms? YES ✅
.
4. Are we taking accountability and ownership over how we let our symptoms affect others? YES ✅
.
5. Are we making a conscious effort not to repeat certain patterns toward our youth? YES ✅ (Ending generational trauma)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then we’re healing 🥰👏🏽. It may never stop hurting. It may never stop affecting you. It may never stop reminding you of what happened but that doesn’t mean you haven’t healed from it. Do you agree?

For so long I’ve been chasing the day that I can say I am completely ⛑ “cured”. We are so stuck on and determined to reach a point where our experiences no longer affect us but maybe that’s not supposed to happen. Maybe the turning point is gaining control of how it impacts our lives.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

1. Have we identified our trauma / abuse / dysfunction/ turmoil? YES ✅
.
2. Are we communicating how the experience made us feel and finding channels to process the emotions? YES ✅
.
3. Have we identified our triggers and developed coping mechanisms? YES ✅
.
4. Are we taking accountability and ownership over how we let our symptoms affect others? YES ✅
.
5. Are we making a conscious effort not to repeat certain patterns toward our youth? YES ✅ (Ending generational trauma)

Then we’re healing 🥰👏🏽. It may never stop hurting. It may never stop affecting you. It may never stop reminding you of what happened but that doesn’t mean you haven’t healed from it. Do you agree?

1. I’ve gone deep into my spiritual journey. Given up alcohol and soda (which I was insanely addicted to) and started prioritizing my internal health.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. I’ve become a board member of the Centre Against Abuse (so continuing to raise awareness to end domestic violence) and participating with a Wellness Org to keep promoting mental health and other wellness.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. I’ve fallen in love and NO I’m afraid to say that here. By now y’all know how real AF I am. If it doesn’t work out, no big deal, that was all just part of life’s process and the good news is some wonderful beautiful things still took place in whatever time was granted.

4. With a new kind of therapy, I’m finally making in roads on some deeply rooted trauma that has been plaguing me for years (more to come on this).

On a serious notes I’ve finally handled the last bit of personal matters that had to be dealt with in person in the US. I’ll finally be able to “SETTLE” now in Bermuda 🥰!

+ another positive observation : it’s become so obvious to me the overwhelming benefit of all the hard work on my inner self, healing and mental health. What is usually a tumultuous experience (and sometimes very dysfunctional), has been a very enjoyable, peaceful and relaxing visit with my family! 🙌🏽❤️

The absolute truth is every morning after I wake up, I carry my little dog with me to the front yard and as I open the door I say aloud “GOOD MORNING BERMUDA”. I am that annoyingly happy right now. ☕️🤗

I sit on my front steps, close my eyes, listen to the 🐤 birds chirp and bask in the sun ☀️ for a few minutes. Even if it’s raining I’ll enjoy a little sprinkle on my forehead. 🌧

One day I’ll be sharing with you all exactly what I did to get this genuine level of peace 🧘🏽‍♀️. People tell me I have happiness written all over my face. Here’s what I can say:

.
1. My anxiety isn’t triggered as much and I’ve been handling 💆🏽‍♀️ stressful situations with much more ease.
2. There’s a lot I still don’t have that I look forward to enjoying but everyday I express so much 🙏🏽 gratitude and humility for what I do have.
3. I live a drama free life and can’t remember the last time someone made me 😤 angry or 😥sad.
4. I’m letting all my relationships (family, friends and romantic) organically evolve 🌱which means I’ve put a lot more time and effort into a few relationships ❤️ that are meaningful and make me feel good about myself. .

Today I feel so thankful that I’m not in the position they were in and feel a personal responsibility to nurture that liberation by affording myself the healing and emotional support that they couldn’t even fathom. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

While I painfully recognize that black and brown people all over the world are still suffering, still oppressed, still being slaughtered; my goal as much as possible is to remind my community of the personal power we’re not supposed to know we have to advocate for our self-care; dismantle harmful stigmas and obtain the peace and happiness that we deserve.

I also recognize as a biracial woman (Half Black and Half Puerto Rican) I’ve benefited in my life from my European ancestry and so taking on this task has been easier for me than for others. I don’t mean to pressure you all, take your time as it’s a very uneasy period in many of your lives. But I want to encourage you to honor our ancestors in doing what they couldn’t which is supporting our mental health; empowering ourselves and loving ourselves as best we can. .

I got the upper hand on this battle called life when I came to realize this quote. It’s all a mental game 🧠. The mind is both spectacular and scary at the same time. When you conquer your mind, you can conquer all the human emotions that come with it. I’m not saying it’s easy but it’s part of the strategy to win this crazy puzzle of life!
